Some ideas on using the story

  1. First tell the class the poem/story before you give out the sheet. They just listen. Tell the story quietly, building up the suspense until you get to the last line and when you say “ghost” shout it! It should give them a fright!

  2. Had out the sheet and practise reading through if necessary. Then get the children to read it to each other, dramatically, as you did.

  3. Let the children tell it to various students. After a while, see who can tell it without looking at the sheet.
  4. The next lesson, let the students write there own version following the template. Give them some ideas of alternative words.

N.B. They may need a lot of help getting the idea of repeating the words
