Provides low-income women with appropriate interview and business apparel, motivation, and follow-up support. Women must be referred by select agencies, including DFS, RACS, and Samaritan Center (see website for a full list of referring agencies).

Thrift store open Mon.-Sat 8-4. Can get a clothing voucher once every 6 months at Salvation Army (927 Jefferson St., JC) on Tuesdays from 9-11:30. Need current photo ID for all people over 17, social security cards for all household members, proof of income for all members for the last 30 days, proof of Cole county, Miller county, or Holts Summit address.

M-Th 9:30-11:30, Thurs. also 4-6 pm. Once a month can get a pass for 30 minutes in the room. No limit on the amount of clothing received. Also blankets and household items. Diapers available depending upon donations.



Just Between Friends and choose a location (locally in Columbia, Jefferson City, and Lake of the Ozarks)

A sale consisting of gently used children’s clothing newborn-18/20, shoes, maternity clothing,

toys, baby supplies and items, furniture, books, costumes, winter clothing, etc. (Basically

anything pertaining to children.) Costs $2 to get in the first day, free the second day with many items half price the second day. If you go online and register to be a shopper, they usually e-mail a free admittance pass. Parents can also sign up to consign (sell) items and receive 65-70 percent of what the item sells for back. If you sell items and/or volunteer at the sale, you get to shop before the sale opens to the public. Currently held once a year in Jefferson City and twice a year in Columbia.
Kid’s Closet Connection

Semi-annual sale of all things children (infant to 18/20 clothing, maternity clothing, strollers, car seats, furniture, toys and books, shoes, swings/bouncers/etc.). Parents can also sign up to consign (sell) items and receive 70 percent of what the item sells for back. If you sell items and/or volunteer at the sale, you get to shop before the sale opens to the public. Held in Jefferson City in the spring and fall with season-appropriate clothing.
