Our Community Salutes” – April 26th, 1:00 PM held at Skyview High School (1300 NW 139th Street, Vancouver, WA). This is an opportunity for family, friends, and the community to honor the young men and women who are entering military service. The event is sponsored by MacKay Sposito and other donations. Lite Refreshment will be provided.

Memorial Day Ceremony – May 26th, 11:00 AM at the Memorial Grounds Fort Vancouver National Park. Reception starts at 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM in the Artillery Barracks (Invitations Only – CMAC Members are welcome!). Guests speakers: Air Force Colonel Richard W Wedan. NPS Tracey Fortman, LTC Jonathan Litton, Mayor Tim Leavitt, and hopefully Congresswoman Jamie Herrera Beutler.

National Park Service Soldier’s Bivouac will be after the ceremony.
Memorial Bricks for Sale – $100 for each brick, up to 18 characters on each line up to 2 lines. These bricks will be placed at the upcoming Memorial site in front of the new Armed Forces Reserve Center. American Legion Post #14 Smith Reynolds “Celebrate 90th Birthday”- April 25th, 5:00PM Social, 6:00PM Dinner, Program following. Come and celebrate with past and present Post Commanders and Unit Auxiliary Presidents of the Post. There will be stories and pictures throughout the 90 years. Also, door prizes and entertainment. Veterans Court Board “Mediterranean Feast & Concert 4 Vets” – April 27th, 2-5 PM at the Petra House Restaurant (1900 NE 162nd Avenue, Suite d-106, Vancouver WA 98684). Performances by Guitarist Ernesto Quilban, Violinist Douglas Canoose, Pianist Yvonne Payne, Miss Clark County Bhanu Kaur, and other special entertainers. Costco Salutes Veterans – June 21st at Costco East Vancouver 192nd and 1st Street, 6:30 AM through 9:00 PM. Partnering with Columbia Credit Union, honoring all Veterans with activities, prizes, raffles, booths, etc.
Team Rubicon “Brothers in Battle” Fundraiser – June 27th, an all-day event at Alderbrook Park in Hockinson, Washington. This will include a BBQ, Volleyball Tournament, bands, raffles, etc. Team Rubicon unites the skills and experiences of military veterans with first responders to rapidly deploy emergency response teams. It is a twofold mission using veterans to improve disaster response while using disasters as an opportunity to serve again. Salem-Keizer Volcanoes Baseball Club “Vietnam War 50th Anniversary Commemoration” – July 4th, 5th and 6th. On July 4th we will Thank, Honor, and Salute all the Veterans for their tremendous service in Vietnam. Our special guests for the day will be (1) Vietnam Prisoner of War Air Force Lt. Colonel (Ret.) Bob Jeffrey who was a prisoner for 7 years and 3 months, (2) Captain Ernie Brace – the longest held American civilian in a Vietnam prison, 7years 8 months and prisoner with Senator John McCain, (3) Sergeant Robert Maxwell – the oldest living Medal of Honor recipient in the United States (93 years old), and also (4) Retired Major Larry Delbert – Oregon’s most decorated Soldier with 570 Combat missions in Vietnam. Salvation Army Veterans and Family Center “Cruse-In” – July 12th 10:00 AM thru 3:00 PM, held at Valley Catholic School (4275 SW 148th Ave, Beaverton, OR 97007). $15 pre-registration by July 1st or $20 at the event. Free to spectators. All cars are welcome! This is our 3rd annual cruise-in. There will be fun for the whole family with Food, Vendors, Blue Grass Band, Kids Activities, Raffles, and Trophies. All proceeds go toward our American Disabilities Act Room at our Center which houses 68 homeless Veterans and their families. It is a transitional housing center that provides a therapeutic environment for 68 homeless veterans and their families up to nine months. Anima Mundi Productions “The Canticle of the Black Madonna”- A soldiers journey from the desolation of war to the healing embrace of love. A new opera coming to Newmark Theatre September 5th and 6th, 2014. This opera addresses the thousands of US Veterans from combat related PTSD. Free workshop for Veterans before and after the premier. Free live showing of the opera for Veterans and their families. Free art therapy workshops, a guest lecturer, casting of Veterans to appear on stage, and hiring of Veterans to work on the design of the opera. LINKS – Involved in the community disbursing food, juices, and personal care products to families, homeless, emergency situations, veterans, and several others in need. These items come directly from donations. We ship juice to various local military events, public events, and organizations. It has been a blessing to serve so many Veterans and families. Returning Veterans Project by providing free counseling and additional health services. We provide free Mental Health Counseling, Acupuncture, Chiropractic and Naturopathic care and more. USO” NW PDX Center will be opening May 1st for all military, military families, and veterans by providing care and comfort while waiting for their flight. Vets Work Program – A career development internship program for military veterans interested in employment with the natural resources/public lands management agencies (US Forest Service, Fish and Wildlife, National Parks, State Parks, and City Governments).
