DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT

For the fourth consecutive year IBO Italia is guest of the Ferrara Buskers Festival for the solidarity. After the 2012 edition for which IBO Italy collaborated to support the some villages of the area interested by earthquake of 20 and 29 may 2012, also for 2013 strengths are united for collaborating to collect founds to support the voluntary sector and the youth mobility.

It is born so the idea of a new workcamp to involve actively a group of volunteers to support this project.

The Ferrara Buskers Festival, with its 800.000 spectators, is the biggest event in the world dedicated to the art of the street. It was founded in 1988 with the aim of enhancing the role of street musicians and to get to know a city rich in history and charm – objectives which have been fully accomplished.

For many spectators from all over Italy and, significantly, even from abroad, the Festival is an exciting tour around the world in search of familiar and exotic sounds; it’s a passionate-treasure-hunt to discover the most original instruments, the most inspired performances and the most fanciful costumes. It is, above all, an endless mobile jamboree, that moves in a thousand directions, able to reserve surprises at every corner: a river of joy, of hints and amazement, that invades the streets and squares of one of the most beautiful city centres of Italy.

The protagonists of the Festival are the buskers themselves; travelling artists who, in their daily activities, try to give some good humour and poetry to passers-by. The extent of their being appreciated lies in the ability to win the attention of a yet-to-be audience. To get them drop a token in the “hat”(in Euros, dollars or pounds). The Busker’s money-exchange office is always open.

Every year, from the third edition - the festival is devoted to a nation guest from which the greatest part of the 20 invited groups come. To these ones they are added accredited groups that participate to own expenses and according to the selection they can perform only for a day.

Any artist receives cachet but only the offers of the public in the hat. The shows follows the principle of the rotation, varying the position of the groups every day.
From 2011 the organization is involved in the project Ecofestival to reduce to the least one the wastes and to also fix elevated standard around the respect of the environment for events of wide course. Diversified harvesting of paper, plastics and aluminum during the event. Bureau Veritas has certified the results of the project.
Moreover this, the Ferrara Buskers Festival wants to be also a great moment of solidarity sustaining the training and to the values of voluntary world, to the youth mobility and the intercultural world, to the active citizen to ideally unite Ferrara to Italy and the whole world.

After the 1866 suppression the convent and the garden were confiscated by the Government. But as soon as it was them possible the Monks were able to reenter in the convent, to officiate the religious functions and to enjoy of the garden taken in lease from the Municipality that, because of the requisitions of state, was become the owner of it.

The 05-07-1896 the Monks, with public action, they purchased from the Municipality the convent and a part of the garden and they recovered free the other part only in 1932, following the contained accords in the Pacts Lateranensi.

The church is devoted to the Immaculate and is in central position in the village, it is very frequented and every year on December 8 they are developed solemn celebrations.

The village of Linguaglossa is not very great: in the summer, surely for the tourists, the number of people arrives around the 5.000 inhabitants, but, in winter, its number is very lower.

Shift:

ANIM/IBOIT34 - 21/07 – 03/08

Number of volunteers per shift: 2IT+2INT males

DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT

The camp is a collaboration between the IBO Italia and the Institute "San Giuseppe" of Catania for the request of volunteers who will work with local educators, in animation activities ,being a support to all those children whose families are temporarily unable or unfit to provide for their maintenance, their education and instruction. With the support of volunteers will try to respond to the need to protect and support families in difficulty in performing their tasks, in order to remove the causes.

The Institute "San Giuseppe-casa del fanciullo", at this time that is often described as "educational emergency", thinks it is first necessary to escape from the emergency to discover and transmit instead a true passion for education, sincere desire to do the job every day. Also this year, therefore, the plan Grest born to offer an experience of socialization and training through the protagonist, the creativity, the development of healthy relationships and interests. A project that also arises from the importance of working with and for young people, engaging their days in order to avoid boredom which could caused forms of damage to the personal growth of each.

The project underline:

• the consent and trust, increasing, obtained from , youth ,animators and parents for an summer event that was possibility to meet and play;

• public recognition of civil and ecclesiastical institutions for initiative of great ,social, educational, human and Christian importance;
• the social impact of a proposal to cover a free time of children and young people and the needs of families, especially those with fewer opportunities to follow their children because of work impediment in order to live " positive experiences ";
• the presence of a team of staff (Servants of Divine Providence, socio-cultural animators, Sports Instructors, Educators, Social Assistants, Volunteers in the National Civil Service, ...) prepared, trained and valued years of experience in the work of voluntary and education;

Given that :

• children of between 2 and 17 years old , who take part to Grest each year, was around 200, residents in the municipality of San Giovanni La Punta and countries in the hinterland of Etneo;

• Each year the Institute, in spite of himself, is forced to reject many inscriptions to the large number of requests;
• Most of the families accessing the service can not claim costs too onerous for summer activities for their children and on the other hand, our Institute will not financially burden on families by creating a "selection" to participation, because the Grest want to be highly qualified opportunity for all those families who can not guarantee their children, completed the school, the opportunity to spend your holidays in a fun and constructive;

• forms of disaffection among young people are growing and changing, partly because of the increasing complexity and problematic nature of many families. In this context it is important to a better qualification of the relationship between public and private, to offer more complete services to those in need and increase the response to discomfort;
• the huge costs that each year the Institute has to bear for the realization of this socio-educational and cultural service to the territory.
