Just a reminder that March’s Women’s Fellowship has been changed to the 4th Tuesday, March 22, 6:30 p.m. It turns out that Sister Linda Hackett is not going to be speaking. She had a conflict with the Old Union Minister’s School which is on schedule for that week. She always attends with her husband. Sister Sue Woodard contacted me just a day or so after Sister Hackett cancelled and said the Lord had really been working on her. She had a subject that He had given her and she knew it related to Faith. Isn’t that interesting Looks like the Lord has it all handled again. He is so GOOD! So Sister Sue Woodard will be our speaker in March. She is Bro. Chris Woodard’s mother and Bro. Dean Cornwell’s sister. It sure is a small world that we live in. She attends church at Victory. Please be in prayer for her.
Sister Sherry Anderson spoke to the group this month and her message was titled “A Servant’s Heart.” This message was very much enjoyed by all. Boxes were filled for men in the armed forces connected with our church.

MY EXPERIENCE OF SALVATION LISA PARKER
Growing up my family did not attend church. My neighbor Jan, who I babysat for, asked if I would like to go to church with them. I did. I was probably 12. I went to the Baptist church in a neighboring town for a long time. They had a different kind of invitation. They would have everyone bow their heads and if anyone wanted to know the Lord for them to look up. Then they brought you to a room to pray. One day I wanted to know the Lord, more out of curiosity than a drawing that I know about now. I was asked to pray with Jan’s sister. I told her I didn’t know what to say so she said “then just repeat after me”. Then she said “that’s it – you are saved”. I felt happy because I had done something good. A while later I left that church and didn’t go to church again until in my 20’s.
Since I thought I was “saved”, it really surprised me when I would attend church and I would get this feeling of heart-ache. It felt like someone was twisting my heart up like wringing a wash rag. There was always an invitation to come and pray and accept Jesus (which I also learned later was not correct). I thought I already had so this confused me and I thought I must have done something terribly wrong and lost what I had. So every chance I got I would go up front and pray – usually begging God to tell me what I was doing wrong and vowing to “be better”. Those vows wouldn’t last even until I got to the parking lot most times.
It wasn’t until I was in my early 30’s, after weeks, months, and years of searching, begging, vowing, and breaking every word I gave, that I finally went up on an invitation of a visiting preacher. I dropped to my knees, worn out, and said “I give up Lord”. That was it. That was all I needed. The pain was gone. I felt happy and light as a feather – almost tingly inside. My statement was truer than I would have ever believed. I really didn’t have anything to give – all I needed was Jesus.

FEBRUARY BUSINESS MEETING
Minutes of last meeting and the Treasurer’s Report and Sunday School Treasurer’s report was read and approved.
A former member of Faith who passed away in the last few months, Ms. Deanne McClard, gave a $5.000 gift to the church to use in whatever way is needed. It was voted to have Billy Clemons investigate the costs of possibly putting two restrooms in the basement. This gift was very much appreciated by the church.
A letter was received from Beckwith Missionary Baptist Church requesting that we send our ordained help to the Ordination of Bro. David Read as deacon. This will take place on Saturday, March 5, 2:00 p.m. The church voted to send our ordained help.
The committee which handled the food for our Ordination was released and expressions of gratitude were offered for a job well done.
Joyce Callis has recently completed the transcription of Bro. W.T. Russell’s 1979 Study of the Book of Revelation. She is offering it to the church to be put on CD’s for members to have. Requests for these should be given to Terry Parker, who will make these CD’s with the church taking care of the costs to reproduce them. This study, along with the Book of Daniel, and The Man of Sin will soon be added to Faith’s Website also. The meeting adjourned.
Taken from SCIENCE AND THE BIBLE and
Excerpts from “TWO NATURES OF MAN” Sermon by Elder F.W. Lambert
The record of Jonah and the whale has been difficult for many to believe. Some have claimed that no whale possesses a gullet large enough to admit a man. However, it is now known that the sperm whale, which inhabits the Mediterranean, is quite capable of swallowing an object much larger than a man, and the same is true of the whale shark and other great marine animals. Both the Hebrew and Greek words used in reference to Jonah’s “whale” could actually apply to any great marine monster.
As a matter of fact, there have been in modern times a number of evidently well-verified instances of whales and sharks swallowing men alive and even one or two cases of men’s actually surviving such an experience. Even if they are true, however, these cases are beside the point, since the Bible clearly sets forth Jonah’s experience as a miracle. The great fish was prepared by God and controlled by God throughout.
The question is simply, Is the story of Jonah history or merely an allegory (as liberals allege)? The account itself is presented as authentic history, detailing the conversion of multitudes of inhabitants of a real city – the great Assyrian city of Nineveh. Jonah is mentioned as a real prophet in Kings 14:25, and the entire record of Jonah was accepted as historical by all ancient Jewish historians and commentators. It is hard to believe these could all have been mistaken.
The compelling reason for accepting the record of Jonah as historical, of course, is because it was so accepted by the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. “The men of Nineveh,” He said, “repented at the preaching of Jonas” (Luke 11:32). With respect to the miracle of the great fish, He said: “For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth” Matthew 12:40). Thus He appropriated Jonah’s miraculous preservation and restoration as a type and prophecy of His own soon-coming death, burial, and bodily resurrection. It is far easier to believe in the story of Jonah and the whale than it is to believe that the Lord was either lying or mistaken.
BRO. F.W. LAMBERT’S THOUGHTS ON JONAH’S EXPERIENCE IN THE EXPLORATION OF THE TWO NATURES OF MAN
John 3:6: “That which is born of the flesh is flesh and that which is born of the spirit is spirit.” You’ve got to be made alive, born of the spirit, but that old nature is hard and it will get you into trouble. In fact, it will lead you a thousand miles in the wrong direction. It will keep you away from the house of God if you listen at it and it did Jonah. God said, “Jonah, go to Nineveh and preach.” Well, I guess he had an idea that “I’ve worked pretty hard and I need a vacation, I believe I’ll take a boat trip.” He did. He got on a boat and sailed a thousand miles in the wrong direction. A storm came up and, in order for them to have the sea to be quiet, they threw him overboard. He preferred death rather than (go preach). Now that was the fleshly nature. The Devil and the flesh said, “You go the other way” and God Almighty and His inward man said, “Go to Nineveh” I don’t know what he weighed, I’m guessing about 150 pounds, but a fish swallowed that dude. And he had a mouthful, I don’t mean maybe. But God prepared that fish. A lawyer in Chicago said in that trial down in Dayton, TN, said, “Mr. Brian, do you believe that Jonah swallowed that whale?” He said, ”No, but if the Bible said he swallowed a whale I’d believe it. Well, it’s a lot of people that don’t believe that the whale swallowed Jonah, but the Bible says that God prepared that fish. He might have had to come up and get a little oxygen occasionally for Jonah. I don’t know if he got so sick that he wanted to throw him up, but the fish threw him up on dry land. The command came, “You go to Nineveh.” Well, he went out, went to hiking. He was following the Spirit then. I’m talking about the inward and outward man. He only had a short message to preach, “Forty days and Nineveh shall be overthrown.” He went through preaching that and, to prove that he did that, Jesus Christ said, “The men of Nineveh shall arise in judgment and shall condemn this generation because they repented at the preaching of Jonah.” So they were saved. They repented.
THINGS WE HEAR ABOUT......
We heard that Paul Hassell was sitting on a table in the doctor’s office, lifting one leg up and holding it up and then the other. Tina asked, “What are you doing, Paul?” His answer was, “Practicing my rigormortis.” Not to be outdone, Jeff Lester says he’s been practicing his rigomortis every night in his recliner and he’ must be getting pretty good at it because he keeps waking up with a sheet pulled over his head! What kind of doctor are you two seeing?

I Thessalonians 4:15-18
“For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God; and the dead in Christ shall rise first. Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air; and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.”
