Come enjoy Fall racing with us and learn how to “Bet on a Vet” The Kentucky Industry Liaison Group cordially invites you to Bet on a Vet with us Friday, November 4, 2016 at historic Churchill Downs. Held just one week prior to Veterans Day, the day’s focus will be how to attract and retain military veterans in the workplace.
Presentations will include:
Bryan Anderson, a Gulf War veteran who, in 2005, was injured by an improvised explosive device (IED) that resulted in the loss of his left hand and both legs. He completed 13 months of rehabilitation at Walter Reed Army Hospital and was awarded the prestigious Purple Heart by the United States Armed Forces. Bryan is an author, actor and spokesperson and will share his inspirational story pertaining to his service to our country, his experiences as a combat-injured veteran and his work with USA Cares. Samuel Maiden, Regional Director of the OFCCP, will share more information on the status of the veteran hiring benchmark and results of 2016 audit activity;
Veteran Employee Resource Group Panel (ERG),comprised of companies such as UPS, Humana and Brown Forman, will discuss the benefits of having a veteran ERG as well as provide guidance on setting up your own;
Outreach Panel, comprised of organizations such as KEEP VETS, Where Opportunity Knox, Kentucky Career Center Workforce Development, Paralyzed Veterans of America and Eastern Kentucky University, will provide pointers on how to attract, retain and create a culture specifically for military veterans in your workplace.

Travel straight off the exit ramp and turn right at the stop light at Central Avenue. Drive straight on Central Avenue and Churchill Downs will be on the left. For Gate 10 access, turn left on Taylor Blvd., then turn left on Longfield Ave.
