Throughout history, people have danced as part of religious ceremonies and social celebrations. They dance to communicate emotions, ideas, and stories and they dance for recreation. Dance spans across all cultures and has been around since the creation of humankind.
Dance has different meanings for everybody. For me it is an expression of the emotions that are buried deep in your soul. It is a way to release your emotions – whether they are happy or sad.
Here are some interesting quotes that others have written about dance:
"The joy of mind and body coming together in a movement. ..."
“DANCE is JOY. DANCE is LOVE. DANCE is what DREAMS are made of.” “Dance is a way of life.”
“Dancing is the poetry of the foot.” ~John Dryden
“Dance is the hidden language of the soul.” ~Martha Graham

It can be done in silence or to music (no words!).
