The Great Mileage Test

(Voiceover - The Great Mileage Test – Sahara Desert TV advert)

At the edge of the Sahara Shell have found a long straight level road to prove how an ingredient in Shell petrol gives you miles per gallon. Now watch. The white car gets a gallon of Shell with this ingredient. The black car gets a gallon of Shell without. The RAC are there to make sure that no bias can come from cars or drivers.

We’re off. They’ve been driving now for nearly an hour and both cars are still running. Just a minute, the black car is stopping. That’s it out of petrol. But the car with the mileage ingredient goes on for another two and three quarter miles.

Proof that Shell gives you mileage. Get good mileage by the gallon at any Shell station. Come and collect, anytime.

Project Guinness

Fuel Economy Challenge
(Voiceover and interviews – Project Guinness TV advert)

(Voiceover) The Project Guinness Team managed an amazing feat. They put a car running on new Shell Fuel Economy Formula to the ultimate test. Could it meet the challenge of driving around the globe to set a new world record?

(Nick Laffan interviewee) Project Guinness delivered the first round the world record for fuel economy for Shell.

(Amanda Glaser interviewee) We had to have a team capable of managing a cast of thousands with the ability to genuinely excite and engage staff at all levels. We had to be available anytime, anywhere and we never took no for an answer. We’ve pushed boundaries with this project and we’ve created a real appetite for breakthrough global initiatives.

(Nick Laffan interviewee) And that just goes to show that if you really believe in something…

(Amanda Glaser interviewee) you can make it happen.
