Method: in coop grps do vocab for ch 1 – go over definitions. If time permits, begin reading ch 1 out loud.

Assess: oral discussion will measure correct id of definitions.

Standard: 7.1.1, 8.1.4

Obj: students will quiz understanding of chapter 1 concepts

Method: review using PBA 4. Students take quiz over chapter 1 concepts.

Assess: students quiz scores will measure comprehension of chapter 1 concepts.

Assign: read sections 1 & 2 of chapter 2

Obj: students will continue to explore elements of fiction.

Method read Stop the sun to explore theme.


Assign: do wksh 25, 28, 29

Tuesday

Obj: students will develop a basic understanding of Romanticism

Method: read historical back ground and draw own summaries. Teacher gives hand out of this info



Obj: students will enhance elements of literature.

Method; Orally identify correct definition for vocab. Teacher will begin reading ch 1 aloud illustrating CCQ’s.

Assign: finish reading ch 1 & 2. fill out SG

Standard: 8.4.1, 8.1.1, 8.1.4

Obj: students will explore building confidence.

Method: Do focus activity 1 in teachers bk pg 25 – take turns introducing someone in class. Use rest of time to read chapter 2.

Assign: chapter 2 and recalling the facts.

Method: discuss stop the sun wksh. Read Ransom of Red Chief. Focus on irony and motivation.

Obj: students will begin understanding of time period.


Method: students discuss Patrick Henry and Thomas Jefferson. read The Devil and Tom Walker by Washington Irving. Students complete wksh 7 & 8 and thinking critically pg 360.

Assess: students discussion will measure comprehension and understanding of story and time period.

Obj: students will explore element of rising action

Method: orally discuss ch 1&2 using SG. Students will work on ch 2 vocab

Assess: discussion will measure quality of reading.

Assign: finish ch 2 vocab

Method: go over recalling the facts. Teacher re-enforces these concepts via ppt.

Assess: students discussion wil measure character analysis.

Assign: vocab quiz Friday over ch 1 & 2 words.
