Hap Palmer song “Marching Around the Alphabet” alphabet cards are placed in a circle and students stand behind them. Children march around alphabet, when music stops students pick up the letter in front of them and name the letter. Can be adapted later using lower case letters, identifying sound the letter makes, name words that begin with that letter.
Bailey’s Bookhouse software (if you have it) has a game where students click on the letter of the alphabet and simple sentences pop up using the letter highlighted.

Typing My Name -Let students go to the computer and type their name (using name card). Print, and then let the students draw a picture of their own face. Remind them to use the correct colors for hair, and eyes. Laminate pictures or scan to computer to create class books and/or powerpoint slide shows. (computer center)
