Monday---Day 1 “Did You See Chip?”

Oral Language: Sharing Literature, Big Book “Little White Dog”.

Phonemic Awareness: focus on bossy r /ar/

Phonics: read and spell words with r-controlled vowel ar/ar/ and high frequency words (live, soon) Read the words on page 9 students will sort the spelling list words. Students will read r-controlled vowel words and write the ar

Read: Decodable Book “At the Park”

Language Arts: Writing: Students will draw a picture of an animal they like and write about it.

Grammar: Students will be introduced to one and more than one from teacher book page 36N.
Tuesday---Library (12:25-12:45)

Tuesday---- Day 2 “Did You See Chip?”

Oral Language: Sharing Literature, Poem: Listen and respond (Teacher Book page 36P)

Phonemic Awareness: focus on r-controlled vowel /ar/

Phonics: read and spell /ar/ words and high frequency words (city, house, sometimes, take, there) Read words in context from teacher book page 36-37. Students will complete practice page 12 r-controlled vowel/ar/. Students read sentences and circle the one that tells about the picture.

Word Power page 36-37 Students will complete practice page 13 High-frequency words. Students will write the word that best completes each sentence.

Read: “Did You See Chip? ” pp 36-57 Focus on comprehension: setting and making inferences.

Language Arts: Writing: Students will draw a picture of Chip and write why they would or would not like to have him as a pet.

Grammar: Students will identify one and more than one practice book page 4.

Wednesday---- Day 3 “Did You See Chip?”

Oral Language: Sharing Literature, Poem: Build Concept Vocabulary Teacher Book page 57E.

Phonemic Awareness: Phoneme Segmentation: Focus on /ar/

Phonics: read and spell /ar/ words and high frequency words (city, house, sometimes, take, there)

Read: “Did You See Chip? ” pp 36-57 ” Reread for fluency. Focus on fluency.

Read making connections page 58-59. Read Decodable Book “Back on the Farm”

Language Arts: Writing: Students will draw their favorite character from the play and write words to describe the character.

Grammar: Students will review one and more than one from teacher book pp 59B.


Thursday---Lexia Reading Lab (12:45-1:30)

Thursday--- Day 4 “Did You See Chip?”

Oral Language: Sharing Literature, Poem: Build Concept Vocabulary from Teacher book page 59D

Phonemic Awareness: Review sounds: focus on /ar/ and /or/

Phonics: read and spell /ar/ words and high frequency words (city, house, sometimes, take, there) Students will complete practice page 14. Students read words and circle the one that tells about each picture. Teacher will use teacher book page 59H High-Frequency Words. Students will read the high-frequency words and write each word in the correct sentence.

Read: “Did You See Chip? ” pp 36-57 Focus on setting page 60-61. Practice book page 15 Setting---Students will read the story beginning and then circle the picture that shows where the story takes place. Reread for fluency.

Language Arts: Writing: Students draw and label a picture of themselves taking care of a pet.

Grammar: Students will review one and more than one from teacher book pp 61B.


Friday---- Day 5 “Did You See Chip? ”

Oral Language: Sharing Literature, Big Book “Little White Dog”.

Phonics: Focus on –s, -ed, -ing from the teacher book page 61D. Students will complete practice page 16. Students will write the correct inflection –s, -ed, -ing to words and read the word and sentence.

Phonemic Awareness: Phoneme Deletion: Focus on –s, -ed, -ing

High-Frequency Words (city, house, sometimes, take, there) Teacher writes the high-frequency words on the board and students share sentences with each word. Teacher will use teacher book page 61H. Students use the high-frequency words to complete the sentences.

Read: “Did You See Chip? ” pp 36-57Reread for fluency. Students will listen to the CD of the story. Students will read along with the CD.


Students will make a take home book called “Carmen Sells Stars”. Students will read along with the teacher and then read by themselves.
Students will review for the test on “Did You See Chip?”.

Students will take a story test over “Did You See Chip?”.



Language Arts: Writing Students can write about their pet.

Grammar: Students will review one and more than one from teacher book page 61L.
