Between 1999 and this current date I have been involved in a healthy amount of work in the area of movie making. I currently run my own small business “KAMAHLFILM” which is growing stronger every day. I have Produced and Tutored Four short movie courses. “Above the line 02 &03” “Digi Clips” “Reel Life” The major focus of the course was digital. As I have no experience with classic film. These course targeted underprivileged kids from around our shire. They have been quite successful and well received by the community The quality and standard was quite remarkable considering the lack of equipment and budget. When I am not teaching I am involved either in my own short movies or other people in this area.
I have always had camels in the peripheral area of my life. Where I grew up there was a camel farm, many of my parents friends were involved in racing and promotion of camels etc. My involvement with camels happened in 2001 when I was invited to film a 14 day camel trek, from a working cattle station to an out back pub. After that trip I was camel struck and have been involved and searching for camel adventures. In 2003 I constructed a camel training video for Phil Gee, a well-respected camel man in Australia. He has been in the camel industry for 25 years and is a leading authority on camel management and handling. He was so impressed with my understanding of the nature of camels that he has allowed me to make a documentary of his life and his camel training operation. So in 2005 I will be making “ Camel whispering” a documentary about Phil’s Holistic approach to camel training.I am currently writer, director, cameraman and producer. I have just finished a 14 day camel trek from Pushkar to Jaisalmer in Rajasthan in India. I also filmed that trek.
Apart from just technical work, I write stories, shorts and was involved in becoming a writer and teacher of “ Wu the warrior. The journey to the Ultimate.” Boys programme touching on self-esteem, nutrition, conflict resolution and behaviour problems. (2000)
When I am not working for myself I am out in the community. I teach kung fu for a non profit organization. It keeps me focused and re enforces my teaching ability. It is a positive thing in my life and it has helped shape me into the person I am now.
My goal in life is to be a successful moviemaker and I would love to teach film later on in life. I am open to all experiences as they are the vital ingredients for telling a good story. I am happy to work with all kinds of people in all kinds of professions. I look forward to working with you.
