Purpose

Ketchikan Indian Community (KIC) job descriptions are a management tool to help organize duties and provide employees with the employer’s expectations with regard to a specific job classification. Job Summary:

Provide extensive customer service satisfaction in hosting (to the highest quality), to ensure history and current information of the hatchery, eagle center, and the cultural history of Haida, Tlingit and Tsimshian tribes. Incumbent will also be responsible for oral presentation of eagle center & hatchery information, ticket booth sales, greeting visitors, taking and filling fish sale orders, issuing charges and collecting payment. Hours and days of work may vary and will include holidays and weekends.


Essential Tour Host Job Functions


    COMPLETES OPERATION BY:

  • Studying itinerary, materials of local history and customs, salmon life cycle, eagle / raptor center information;

  • Provides information on answering questions, obtaining tickets sales, selling combo tickets and fish sales for customers;

  • Processing cash, credit cards, and combo tickets from customers;

  • Filling out daily cash sheets to report sales, balancing cash drawer at end of day;

  • Reconciling credit card and cash deposits;

  • Provides Assistance to handicap visitors to access the facility.



    MAINTAINS INTER- AND INTRADEPARTMENTAL WORK FLOW BY

  • Fostering a spirit of cooperation;

  • Contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.



    MAINTAINS A SAFE AND CLEAN WORKING ENVIORNMENT BY:
  • Assisting with daily facility cleaning;


  • Complying with policy and procedures, rules and regulations;

    MAINTAINS EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES BY:

  • Inspecting and evaluating the physical condition of the facility, sanitation, appearance, and efficiency;

  • Reporting to Supervisor if needed any operating supplies and equipment are depleted.



MAINTAINS QUALITY IMPROVEMENT PROCESS BY:

  • Understands the Tribe’s and employees needs by demonstrating courtesy, diplomacy and tact during interactions with internal and external parties;



    CONTRIBUTES TO TEAM EFFORT BY:

  • Participating in the facility’s tourism, hatchery, raptor center process and other workgroups;

  • Performing other related duties as directed by Eco Development Director, Supervisor, Operations Manager, Hatchery Manager , Bird Handler & Bird Curator


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of the organization, function and operations of the activity services and higher management directives;

  • Knowledge of office equipment , phones, cash register, credit card machine ;

  • Skill in writing as would be required for reports;

  • Ability to communicate professionally over the telephone and in person in a positive and clear manner;
  • Ability to manage simultaneously multiple tasks, including telephone, cash handling operations and in-person visits at a fast pace;


  • Ability to be flexible in order to perform at the highest level as a team player;

  • Ability to utilize maximum degree of professionalism and diplomacy with those who may be experiencing a high degree of stress both mentally and/or physically;

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and able to prioritize assignments;

  • Ability to communicate with people in a friendly and courteous manner;

  • Ability to work as a team player, follow written and oral instructions to perform job duties;

  • Skill in verbal presentations a must.


Physical Activities Include

Must be able to hear. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or operate objects tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch; and taste or smell. Each of the listed activities also requires standing, sitting, walking, bending, and stooping, climbing on stools and ladders, and routinely lifting and carrying items and boxes up to forty (40) pounds.


Frequently required to stand for extended hours. Will work weekends, and holidays.
Education and Experience:

High school diploma or GED required.


Prefer two years experience sales and tourism industry.
Any combination of related education and/or related experience will be considered if the candidate posses the demonstrated ability.

Individual must be able to pass a pre-hire drug screen
