These stories have been written to engage reluctant readers. They can be used solely as interactive stories for learners to read individually or as part of a creative writing lesson.
Each story is also available in a printed version and an MP3 of the story can be downloaded. This can be used to encourage learners to read along while listening to the story on a mobile device.
The dice can be used to select a story genre and then there is a choice of reading the story, analysing each section of the story or writing a story in the same genre using the story prompts.
The analysis of the story splits it up into four sections: setting, problem, crisis, resolution. The pen tool allows you to annotate the story or highlight particular words. The learners could be given print outs of the relevant pages to analyse in groups.
The story writing activity can be done at the computer or offline by printing out the story starter and providing the learner with the story prompts sheet.
Learners could also be encouraged to collaborate on the story by using online tools such as PrimaryPad or GoogleDocs.
