Materials to bring: Pencil box clearly labeled with your child’s name with the following: scissors, glue sticks, pencils and crayons

Lower Elementary (K-2nd grades) 1st Period
Art (This class is FULL!)

Instructor: Jennifer Warner

Does your child enjoy using his/her hands and creating things? Hold onto your seat, as we travel back and forth through time creating art in various forms. Art takes creativity and time so our projects will not be rushed. We may also get a little messy from time to time so take note below.


Materials to bring: In order to allow your child the time to complete a project in his/her time frame…please have the following items in his/her labeled pencil box: a bottle of liquid glue, glue stick, watercolor paints, markers, crayons, colored pencils, and a smock/old shirt

Five in a Row provides a unit study approach to early education based on exceptional, classic works of children's literature. Each unit explores a book and combines Social Studies, Art, Math, and Science in a way that is fun and exciting. Come explore with us fun books and activities to go along.
Materials to bring: 1“three ring binder, colored pencils, pencils, glue sticks, and scissors

Lower Elementary (K-2nd grades) 2nd Period
Experimental Science

Instructor: Joy Allen

Your child will be doing a lot of hands-on learning. We will be making super concoctions that are fun and easy and will keep the child's attention. We will have lots of fun!

Nature Class

Instructors: Susannah Richmond & Caroline Sammons

We will be studying the different aspects of nature using hands-on learning activities, art, and science. Children will be encouraged to share with the class their own finds, and to explore the natural world with observation, notebook keeping, and nature crafts.

Materials to bring: pencils, color pencils, and glue sticks

Lower Elementary (K-2nd grades) 3rd Period
American Girl- Samantha

Instructors: Kristi Bailey & Andrea Clark

We will be studying the American Girl, Samantha. The girls will be studying the time period in history that Samantha and her family lived through.  The girls will participate in a tea party each week and will take turns providing the snacks.  They will be asked to read or be read to, the Samantha book series and there will be activities each week that go along with the time period.  This is a great class for young girls to get to experience being a lady and enjoying learning about how other young ladies lived years ago.


Materials to bring: notebook paper, pencils and a folder

Burn lots of energy with structured and exciting play!  We will learn the basics and fundamentals of different sports and activities such as: flag football, baseball, nerf ball games, laser tag, wrestling etc.

Upper Elementary (3rd-5th grades) 1st Period
US History

Instructor: Trixie Briggs

US History is an amazing, fun and interesting topic to learn. We will cover from Native American history to current events. We plan to learn about times in our young country's history that has shaped us to the nation we are today and to also look at how we, as individuals, can have a hand in shaping the future. Come and explore these times with us.

Journalism

Instructors: Christy Clements & Amy Cody

Calling all reporters!  Come produce the co-op newsletter with us!  You’ll learn how to work with other students to come up with ideas for articles, interview individuals, write articles, take photographs, edit, arrange, print and distribute the paper.  Be prepared to have lots of fun!

Journalism students will be expected to be able to:

• Research/interview (in and out of class)

• Write (at home)

• Type (at home)

• Edit (at home)

• Bring work to class on a memory device

• Use computer editing software with teacher supervision (in class)

The student will be required to compose a minimum of one (1) three-paragraph

article on a given topic per issue. In addition to the article, other tasks

will be assigned including, but not limited to working alone and with others to

create:

• Article Topics

• Calendars

• Classifieds

• Cartoons

• Jokes


• Page layouts
Materials to bring: pencil, pen, a three ring binder with loose-leaf paper, and pocket folder to keep papers in and an electronic memory device (i.e. flash drive or SD Card)

Upper Elementary (3rd-5th grades) 2nd Period

Learning with Legos

Instructors: Nadine Robinson & Brandy Barnwell


Come join us as we explore math and science using legos. Students will be given a challenge each week with time to investigate independently; we will then work together in small groups to solve our challenges. We will also have a chance to build and test some contraptions using wheels, gears, and even motors! This will be a fun class. It is designed to get your kids building, thinking, and working together.
Materials to bring: lego base plate, paper, pencil, and ruler
