Hackney Children’s Theatre, East London’s newest performance project for young audiences, presents their “homemade” musical performance especially for young audiences. “Cheesecake” is a brand new mini musical show for young children aged 3-8 years, devised in response to church buildings.


Synopsis:

Cheesecake is the story of Georgia and Millie, two young mice sisters who are looking for a new home in the big city. The sisters are offered a small space by Mrs K, a mouse landlady in the cupboard of a church.

The show follows their adventure when they go looking in the building for a bigger, better space to live? A cupboard was not the bijoux loft apartment they were after.

Can they avoid the traps of cake and mouse catching vicar?

The Old Church is located on the corner of Clissold Park, opposite St Mary’s Church on Stoke Newington Church Street.

Director and Choreographer Andrew Coombs has been making immersive children’s dance theatre work for over 13 years and is the founder of Hackney Children’s theatre, Cheesecake is his first musical performance.


Musical Director Omar Shahryar composer is a British-Bangladeshi musician, director and educator. Omar has a wealth of experience in the creation and production of opera having worked for the UK's major opera companies Royal Opera, English National Opera, Scottish Opera, Opera North, Birmingham Opera, Garsington Opera and Grange Park Opera.

Picture Book To accompany the performance Andrew Coombs has collaborated with writer Peggy Aylett and visual artist William Bock on a children's picture book that will be available to purchase.

Hackney Children’s Theatre

Hackney Children’s theatre is produced by Adrenalindance and aims to bring excellent theatre to Hackney at an affordable cost. The project receives no financial support and revenue comes from ticket sales. Front of house, marketing and stage management is by local volunteers, who help keep the performances affordable.
