Monday Project Read---Unit 13 B: Beginning r-blends

Teacher will place her copy of the r-blends bowl worksheet 13-35 under the document camera. Class will review the tr beginning blend by skywriting the blend and providing sound with thumb blending 3 times.

Class will further review tr beginning blend by rereading the following worksheets using finger blending and tap and sweep: tr beginning blends words on worksheet 13-61 and sentences containing tr beginning blend words on worksheet 13-41.

Spell Tabs—Students will head a piece of notebook paper with Spell tabs at the top, name and date underneath. Teacher will dictate the following words and use each in a sentence. Students will repeat each word and finger blend to write each word. After work is complete, teacher will take up the formative assessments and class will discuss what spellings they should have written for each word.

Teacher will place her copy of the r-blends bowl worksheet 13-35 under the document camera again and tell students that they will work with the next beginning r blend—cr.

Teacher will add this spelling to her bowl worksheet and model for students skywriting and sound. Students will skywrite this spelling 3 times, providing sound. Teacher will pass out student copies of the bowl and students will add this spelling to their bowl worksheet 13-35.

Teacher will place worksheet 13-63 cr words under the document camera. Students will use finger blending and tap and sweep to read the cr beginning blend words. Vocabulary for the words will be discussed as needed. This worksheet will be sent home for reading homework.

Teacher will place worksheet 13-43 sentences containing cr words under the document camera. Students will use finger blending and tap and sweep to read the sentences. Sentences will be discussed to aid in reading comprehension. This worksheet will also be sent home for reading homework.

Students will complete a short comprehension quiz over the story. Teacher will leave the story under the document camera while students complete the quiz. After the quiz, teacher will take those up and students will use the story to discuss what answers they should have put on the quiz.

Teacher will place her copy of beginning r-blends bowl under the document camera and tell students that she is going to place the beginning r-blend for study today in the bowl. She will place fr in the bowl and model skywriting for fr. Students will skywrite fr 3 times, providing sound each time also. Teacher will pass out student copies of the r-blend bowl worksheet and students will add beginning r-blend fr to their bowl.

Teacher will place worksheet 13-67 (fr words) under the document camera. Students will practice reading the words using finger blending and tap and sweep. Vocabulary for the words will be discussed. This worksheet will be sent home for reading homework.

Today from 9:00-9:45, Project Read class goes to computer lab across the hall from our classroom for Lexia Reading. Login cards are in red basket by the computers. At 9:45-10:30, complete the following lesson for Project Read.
