A coquí is a tiny tree frog from Puerto Rico and often serves as a sort of "mascot" for the island. This Webquest introduces coquíes, touches upon a surrounding legend, and explores why they might be attached to Puerto Rico.
Ko-kee, ko-kee . . . This is the sound you will hear from a tiny frog known as the coquí. There is a legend behind the coquí that it might survive in other environments, but it will only "sing" in its native land of Puerto Rico. What does Puerto Rico have that other places don't? As you complete this WebQuest, you will discover what you would want to take back home with you after "visiting" Puerto Rico and what it is the coquí is looking for to make it want to sing.
Your primary task will be to create a product list of items you would sell in a souvenir shop in Puerto Rico. As you collect information for this product line, you will also answer some guiding questions about Puerto Rico and coquíes that will help you both understand the country better while also helping you choose your products wisely.
Your second task is to design a T-shirt with a motto or "catchy phrase" in Spanish that somehow represents Puerto Rico along with a picture of a coquí and any other design that corresponds with your motto.
Use the attached forms to answer questions, and complete your designs. Write all your information on the forms neatly, in ink. Use the following resources to help you.
