I would like to request the following information from Suffolk Constabulary under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
Please could you tell me how many cases of FGM have you had reported to the force under the new mandatory reporting legislation that applies to children under 18 and was introduced on 31 October 2015?
Where possible can you breakdown how many of the cases were reported by.
a) a health professional

b) an educational professional

c) a social worker

d) other

For background:

Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) is illegal in England and Wales under the FGM Act 2003 ("the 2003 Act"). It is a form of child abuse and violence against women. FGM comprises all procedures involving partial or total removal of the external female genitalia for non-medical reasons.

Section 5B of the 2003 Act1 introduces a mandatory reporting duty which requires regulated health and social care professionals and teachers in England and Wales to report ‘known’ cases of FGM in under 18s which they identify in the course of their professional work to the police.
The duty applies from 31 October 2015 onwards. ‘Known’ cases are those where either a girl informs the person that an act of FGM – however described – has been carried out on her, or where the person observes physical signs on a girl appearing to show that an act of FGM has been carried out and the person has no reason to believe that the act was, or was part of, a surgical operation within section 1(2)(a) or (b) of the FGM Act 20032 .
Responding to the FOI:
If for some reason it is not possible to provide the information requested due to the information exceeding the cost compliance limits identified in Section 12, please provide assistance, under your Section 16 obligations, as to how I can refine my request to be included in the scope of the Act.

In the last three and a half years, how many occasions have MP’s reported crimes against them to your force? For instance: stalking, cyber bullying, harassment, etc.

I appreciate that occupation (member of parliament, etc.) may not have been reported in every instance and that the true figure may be higher – however, I would like any information that you do hold.

I would like this information broken down by 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016 so far.

Whilst I appreciate you may not be able to provide names of MP's who made the reports, I would be grateful if you could break down by the offences reported by the years requested.

Please send the information by email to this email address.

I would be grateful if you could confirm this request has been received.

1. For the last four calendar years Dec-Jan (2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016 so far - all broken down by year), please could you give me the number of times that police have been called by/on behalf of an MP?

2a) In addition, please provide the number of crimes reported between 2013 and 2016 where the victim listed their occupation as an MP, ‘politician’ or ‘Member of Parliament’. Again, I would like this broken down by same calendar years as above. Please also supply a list of crimes reported for each year. I realise that including ‘politician’ may include individuals who are not necessarily MP’s – but that is fine.

b) Please also provide how many perpetrators were charged for each year. To be clear: this part of my request just relates to 2a, not question 1.

If part of this request is not available, I am happy for you not to contact me – but to simply provide the information that IS available. If this request exceeds cost limit, please cut the year 2013 (as well as 2014 if necessary) from my request, and provide the remaining years. I would like this information sent in an excel spreadsheet to this email address.

In order for me to take my idea forward, I need to collate data from at least the last 3 years, ideally the last 5 years (2011-2015) to build a National profile on bogus crime. This information should be readily available in your computer systems or in your annual crime statistics. So I would very much appreciate your assistance to gather the following information:
1. The total number of reported bogus incidents in each year that did not result in a crime.
2. The total number of reported bogus incidents in each year that resulted in a crime.
3. A breakdown of all bogus caller related crimes into specific crime categories OR into two simple categories - SERIOUS (e.g. sexual assault, violence) and MINOR (e.g. theft, burglary) and the number in each category.
4. An estimated cost of how much bogus incidents 'cost' your force each year. To include time spent taking initial reports, and officers attending and dealing with incidents.
5. Whether you have any protocols/systems in place to monitor doorstep callers in your force area.
