New Year's Day Walk. Meet and leave on foot at 10.30am from the Recreation Centre Car Park, The Elms, Highworth. Wrag Barn Golf Course, Sevenhampton, Roves Farm, Nightingale Wood, South Marston, Queenslaine Farm, Redlands, Highworth. A stroll through local villages, wood and pastures (where the very observant may spot an occasional solar panel!). Optional after-walk drink at the Rose and Crown, The Green, Highworth.

Starting from Winterbourne Monkton, climb up to Ridgeway, taking White Horse Trail and Herepath to Avebury, before returning to Winterbourne Monkton. Grey Wethers (Sarsen Stones), Fyfield Down Nature Reserve, Avebury Stone Circle; view of Silbury Hill from Avebury.

This walk is part urban part countryside using the K&A Canal, Somerset and Dorset railway route, some urban streets and quiet country lanes. Visiting Bath, Monkton Combe, Somerset Coal Canal, Dundas Aqueduct and Harry Patch's grave. Pub stop available in Monkton Combe where a local cider is usually available.
