The bout with Schram was at catch-as-catch-can style and the bout with Woodmansee was under Graeco-Roman rules. The bout was roundly criticized as “fake wrestling.”

In January 1950, Crosley Broadcasting announced that it would begin airing wrestling matches live from it’s studios in Dayton beginning February 4. Officials for Crosley believed this would be the first time wrestling would be broadcast from a TV studio. The show would be taped in WLWD’s 200-seat studio and also air in Cincinnati and Columbus.
