Prediction Statements: Agree or Disagree

  • A woman will have great depression when she learns of her husband’s death.

  • A woman will die suddenly because of the loss of her life long love.

Situational Irony: The opposite of what we expect to happen in a situation occurs.

Verbal Irony: Someone says something, but they actually mean the opposite.

Dramatic Irony: The reader knows something that the characters do not.
What are some examples of irony that are used in the story?

Take a popular children’s story, fable, or fairy tale and use irony to change the ending of the story and surprise the reader.

Write the final draft (use ink) on computer paper (1/2 page to 1 page), frame it with construction paper, and add decorations.
