Lapsit Tips

To make the most of our time together:

  • Please arrive on time; latecomers distract the other children.

  • Join in and participate; you are the best model for your child.

  • Bounces and tickles are the most fun when you hold your baby or toddler on your lap – older children might like to have a stuffed animal or doll to hold and bounce.

  • Please turn off your cell phone and refrain from visiting with other parents/caregivers until after storytime.

  • Remember food and drink are not allowed in the library or story room.

  • Sometimes a child is having a hard day and it may be necessary to step out of the room and then rejoin the group later.

Thank you!

the more we get together

The more we get together the happier we’ll be.

Open, shut them. Open, shut them.

Give a Little Clap, clap, clap

Open, shut them. Open shut them.

Fold them in your lap.

Round and round in the garden, (trace circle on baby’s palm)

Went the teddy bear.

One step, two steps, (walk fingers up arm)

Tickly under there. (tickle under arm)

Round and round the haystack,

Went the little mouse.

One step, two steps,

Into his little house.

The itsy bitsy spider climbed up the waterspout.

Down came the rain and washed the spider out.

Out came the sun and dried up all the rain

And the itsy, bitsy spider climbed up the spout again.

Rain is falling down. Splash!

Rain is falling down. Splash!

Pitter patter, pitter patter

Rain is falling down. Splash!

Pat-a-cake, pat-a-cake, baker’s friend,

Bake me a cake as fast as you can.

Roll it and pat it and mark it with a B.

And put it in the oven for baby and me.

Tick tock, tick tock, (rock baby side to side)

I’m a little cuckoo clock

Tick tock, tick tock,

Now it is one’ o’clock - Cuckoo! (lift baby on cuckoo)
Now it is two o’clock - Cuckoo! Cuckoo!

Now it is three o’clock - Cuckoo! Cuckoo! Cuckoo!

Hickory dickory dock, (rock baby side to side)

The mouse ran up the clock. (run fingers up arm)

The clock struck one, (clap on “one”)

The mouse ran down, (run fingers down arm)

Hickory dickory dock. (rock baby side to side)

Bumpin’ up and down in my little red wagon,

Bumpin’ up and down in my little red wagon,

Bumpin’ up and down in my little red wagon,

Won’t you be my darlin’!

Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, turn around.

Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, touch the ground.

Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, show your shoe.

Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, I love you

Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, reach up high.

Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, wave goodbye!
